About The Author

Aylin Sedighi Gabbaizadeh was born and raised in Iran and moved to the United States at the age of thirteen. She learned to read and write English from the Berenstain Bears' series. She graduated from Stony Brook University and received a master's degree from New York University.

The stories of the women that surrounded Aylin her entire life inspired her to write a novel that explores the lasting effects that poor treatment of young girls and women has on the nuclear family as well as the society at large.

Aylin lives with her husband and children in New York. Under The Persimmon Tree is her first Novel.
